The 2009 SCION Jenks Pro is just around the corner and the expectation could not be higher for this year’s event. The weather patterns are quite similar to that of the legendary 2005 SCION Jenks Pro, in which Javier Baez (Puerto Rico) took down World Champion Jeff Hubbard (Hawaii). It was the best surf the East Coast and Jenkinson’s Boardwalk has ever seen. A seven day waiting period, based around the Labor Day Weekend, makes for a very promising event at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in 2009. As we approach the USBA’s 5th annual event at Jenks Beach, we would like to reflect on the amazing heats it has produced. In our first year in 2004, the current World Champion Damien King (Australia) beat Jeff Hubbard (Hawaii) and 6x World Champion Guilherme Tamega (Brazil) surfed perfect 2-4ft waves at Jenkinson’s Pier in Seaside Heights. Another great battle was in 2007 when Jeff Hubbard battled against Javier Baez. Once again in the final Hubbard beat Baez in the dying moment with a big invert to seal his first Jenks Pro win. Last year’s event saw Hawaii’s style master Spencer Skipper take down Jacob Romero and East Coast rider Brian Stoehr in what was another amazing final. The staff at the USBA could not be happier with the SCION Jenk’s Pro and its many years of success.
We will see all 25,000+ fans on September 1st – 7th at Jenkinson’s Beach in Point Pleasant, NJ.
