There’s no denying that something new is surfacing in the bodyboard and surf world. We here at eBodyboarding.com have watched as the age of the “Barrel Cam” has been birthed. Now the perspective of a rider capturing his experience on a wave is nothing new to the film world, but before, this perspective took a lot of time, technical knowledge, and money to do. Because of this, this perspective was an endeavour left primarily videographers with extremely deep pockets or a keen and clever enough understanding of the technology to jerry-rig something usable. Fast-forward to 2008 when we saw GoPro cameras come on the scene. This company brought about the advent of an affordable and miniature camera/housing that has paved the way for nearly anyone with a couple of hundred bucks to capture the experience of riding waves. Their latest release of a board or helmet mounted camera which captures footage in High Definition has been amazing as is evidenced by the phenominal footage finding its way onto the Internet.
So, we thought we’d just highlight some footage from all around the world that has been posted in the last month to show everyone just what it feels like to be in the water across continents. There is something about this perspective that makes you just want to get out and get barreled. Enjoy these clips we dug up!
