   Great article. I’ve been a lone bodyboarder for about 4 years now and about 2 years ago my brother was the one who introduced the term “sponger” to me. I’d never heard that term before so one day at I Googled it and came across an article written by the Los Angeles Times about spongers. It was another excellent article about the mind set and culture of a sponger with a little bit of history on how bodyboarding has influenced surfing.
